In 1996 we began distributing other people's software. In late 2000, I began developing software based on my ten years of teaching with other people's software. I knew first-hand the kind of content and features I wanted to have, and I also spent a considerable amount of time listening to the ideas and frustrations of my customers and seminar participants. Good Sam the Samaritan CD was our first effort. In each subsequent CD you can see us continuing to explore new design ideas and employing new technology. No two "Sunday Software Designed" CDs are alike. There is NO one right way to design all Bible story CDs because no two Bible stories are the same. But there are some crucial elements that each CD needs to make it "lesson & teacher friendly."
What is "Sunday Software Designed Software" ?
1. Lesson Design Paradigm
Unlike some older CE software, our software isn't just "a Bible story with a few graphics and narration." Each of our Bible story CDs has content that fits all the stages of your lesson plan, --- "open, dig, and reflect". You won't be spending just 5 or 10 minutes in the program. We help tell the story, get behind the story's meaning, and help students go deeper. And our software contains reflection activities to help students get to the next level and life application.2. Discussion Starting/Enhancing Content
Our Bible story CDs include many features and questions to encourage discussion and reflection. We "salt" questions and additional materials throughout our programs to be picked up by the teachers and students as needed.3. Multimedia Rich Content
Animation, video, and interactivity are not window-dressing in our software. We fill each of our CDs with engaging multimedia. And we make regular use of NEW technology in our software. Examples: Ten Commandments' full screen photobubbles, Fluffy's text-to-speech synthesis, and the virtual hosts Cal & Marty in Cal and Marty's Scripture Memory Game CD. We are also the first developer to use popular 3-D game engine technology in several of our titles to teach Bible content in a serious (but fun) way.4. Standard of Quality -- We are not stingy with our multimedia. You'll find animation and interactivity throughout our CDs. All our music and sound effects are custom made, not off-the-rack. We care about the experience of learning with the computer as well as the content. We know that engaging screens and "wow factors" help students focus on content and open them up to teacher led discussion.
5. Expert Written Content
Our software content is written by an ordained Presbyterian minister with over 24 years of Children and Youth ministry experience, and over 13 years of computer lab teaching experience. No other Christian software designers or publishers can match that experience. All our content is tested in real Sunday Schools. Our versions are refined by real use and customer feedback.6. Age-Range Expanding and Length-of-Use Expansion Features
That's a mouthful of a phrase, but what it means is this... We make sure our content is designed in such a way that it can be used with as wide an age range as possible. We think that's good stewardship. We also design our software knowing that some classes only get one week with the CD, while others may get two or three weeks with the same program. We make sure there is content "in there" that can be skipped if you're in a rush, or returned to if you have the time. Our development process is open to input and we are interested in your feedback. Christian Education Software is not a side-line to us. We're here for the long haul. And we're interested in exploring and improving HOW the software helps your students learn God's Word.
