The Play & Learn Children's Bible CD

Play & Learn has 50 read-aloud interactive Bible stories with multiple pages of illustrations and read-aloud text per story. The stories are organized by theme and by the values they teach (a typical way many early curricula are organized).

Kids pick a story and are asked if they want it read aloud. After a brief narration of the page, kids can click on the illustrations to reveal animated onscreen objects (a popular idea in young children's software). Each page has kid-friendly text and vocabulary spoken by a pleasant voice. Each story ends with a question posed to the children. Stories are from three to five illustrated pages. Big mouse rollover hotspots and simple navigation also set Play & Learn apart from other CDs in this age group.

Stories are taught in an ecumenical, age and language appropriate style.

Play & Learn's 50 stories were written by popular children's Christian author -Gilbert Beers. They are paraphrased in an easy to understand version for pre-and early readers. Each story has multiple pages the kids can "turn" by clicking an arrow after the text is read (most other Children's Early reader Bible CDs don't).

In addition to the 50 stories there's a game room that includes a Bible 16 songs sing-a-long, Bible picture puzzles to re-assemble for 25 of the stories, a Bible Paint coloring activity for the other 25 stories, Mazes to play onscreen and even a counting and alphabet activity.

I've personally reviewed over two dozen CDs for this younger age group and we could have carried any of them. There's only one other like Play & Learn that's as good: Charlie Church Mouse---also at this website. Most have serious flaws or are just plain bad (poor graphics, age inappropriate difficult Bible versions, only one illustration per story, poor sound, etc., etc.).

I'm grateful for Play & Learn Children's Bible and have used it many times in my own computer labs. It continues to be a popular item that gets good reviews.

Here's some great feedback on Play & Learn:

Dear Neil,

My oldest teacher was tickled to death with this program. She said she had finally found a reason to become computer literate! She is about 65-70 years old and does a great job teaching our K-1st grade class but I think she is thrilled to find something new to do with the kids that is really worthwhile.
