Dear Neil Our cardboard box tunnels and 'hanging tablecloth' partitions have been a huge hit.  The kids are so excited that one mother reported that she had to tell them to 'Please stop talking about the VBS computer lab!'   Lab set up   We put all computers on the floor, monitors on chairs, old couch cushions and large pillows on the floor, and hung tablecloths from Logos from the lights using paperclips to avoid 'pulling out light fixtures' when someone pulled on the 'curtain.'  The curtains separated each computer from one another, so that groups would work as teams and not get distracted.  Today, someone pulled down a curtain for the last segment, and the distraction level was clearly in play between the two groups.   We pulled graphics from the program's Teaching Tips on www.sundaysoftware.com to create identities for each computer, and made cards with the same graphics.  Signs in the tunnels had arrows and the same graphics to guide explorers to the correct computer.  Each team member used their card and a flashlight to find the correct tunnel route and be sure that they were at the right computer.  I had plenty of cards...to accommodate changing groups and lost cards...we stapled them to their nametags as they picked up their flashlight to enter the tunnel.   Lesson set up   We printed out navigation instructions (blue cardboard) and a map (white cardboard) for each computer.  We printed out the tips from the web site and gave them to the circulating guides to help explorers.   On Wednesday, we provided Bibles to the groups to look up the references in Genesis...'readers (e.g. 2nd grade and above) had to read by flashlight...they thought that it was cool!   Today, Thursday, two of the five groups of 3rd and 4th graders obtained the cup...we'll have them complete the Bible study tomorrow.   Loraine Huchler Computer Lab Director Presbytarian Church of Lawrenceville 2885 Main Street Lawrenceville, NJ  08648 E-mail: huchler@verizon.net       Back to Photos Page Back to Summer Software Ideas
