Joseph's Story 2.0
and we have a 6th CD in development...
Jesus and Peter

My name is Neil MacQueen and
I'm the owner and software designer for Sunday Software. Several years ago I was
looking for a 3d game programmer to develop a couple of Bible story game ideas I
had. We develop using several approaches and development teams -and I was very
interested in presenting certain Bible stories in a 3d game style.
Denizhan Yagci, a native of
Istanbul Turkey, is Divine Games' chief programmer and game designer. I first
met "Deni" through the 3D Gamestudio forum when we were exploring the
development of Galilee Flyer CD. Gamestudio is also known as "A6" or "A7," or
the "Acknex" game engine. It is a versatile game development tool that's
well-suited to our needs. Deni is an expert programmer with it.
Deni is Muslim, which makes developing
Christian games with him an interesting enterprise. We share a common faith in
the Almighty, and a desire to encourage the spiritual and moral development of
children and youth. We also share a development philosophy about creating
non-violent games, --which is something that some other Christian game
developers aren't so sensitive about.
The biggest challenge Deni and I
face when designing our 3D games is trying to keep the lid on them!
- It's much easier to design a
challenging EPIC than it is to create a tight Bible story-focused game
that can be completed in under 50 minutes (the typical amount of class
time on a Sunday morning).
- Though the game development tools
allow us to create fantastic worlds, we constrain our technical specs so
that the average "new-er" computer can play our games, rather than only
the latest greatest computers.
- Deni and I also share a
commitment to improve our titles based on customer feedback and our
evolving ideas. No "one and done" versions here! And most of our
upgrades are free downloads from our website.
Why
have we developed some games in a 3D game format?
-
The kids love it,
especially the older children and younger youth. This is the style of
game software they are playing on their home computers and their Xbox.
-
3D games immerse the
player in the content. This creates a focal state where concentration is
sharp and distractions are fewer. That makes the content "stick".
-
The "linear" nature
of 3D game is great for telling story lines. This is especially true for
BIG stories like Joseph or Exodus. We can literally recreate scenes from
the story and walk through them.
