Important! Which version of Fluffy do you have?

If your CD's white label only has one picture of Fluffy on it, that's version 1.0
If
your CD's white label has
many pictures of Fluffy on it, that's the current newer version 1.2.

Version 1.2 Reported Problems & Their Solutions:

You know you have Version 1.2 if you have multiple sheep on the CD's label.

IF... The program doesn't start up when you put the CD in and just shows a black screen...

Then... It could be one of two problems. First, Open Windows Explorer and double-click the Start file on the Fluffy CD. See if it manually starts that way. If that doesn't help, then it probably means that your system's Flash Player is way out of date. The opening title sequence is a Flash element. Go to www.macromedia.com/flash and download the latest free player. If the computer where Fluffy won't run doesn't have an internet connection, go to one that does, download the player as a standalone file, burn it to a CD and bring that file to your computer to install it.

IF.... You have sound dropping out after certain activities. For example, you finish Fluffy Jam and can't hear the sound in the next activity. It means your computer has poor ram resources or an out of date sound driver.

Then... Turn off all other software running while Fluffy is running. Interrupting Fluffy (and most multimedia software) can toss the sound connection. This includes anti-virus, email and other programs. Make sure you have 64 megabytes of RAM. If your system is low on resources, it may trip up Fluffy, and sheep don't have good footing. If you would like to report this problem to us, please be extremely specific about the exact location in the program and thing you were doing at the time when the sound dropped out. Make sure your audiocard and video driver software are up-to-date. We have only heard of this drop-out problem with Windows 98. The problem seems to be limited to old donated equipment and budget off-brand soundchips that lose their courage underfire.

If you have Windows 98 we strongly suggest you discover the brand and model of your soundcard (or soundchip), and videocard, then go to one of the many driver update sites on the web and download a new sound or videodriver for your computer. These can be downloaded and copied to disc and transported over to the computer where the driver needs updated. Try driverplanet.com and driverzone.com, driverguide.com

When is 64 mb of RAM NOT 64 mb of RAM? When your videocard is actually a budget "videochip" that borrows RAM from your main system RAM.

IF.... Your Readme file on CD says it's version 1.0/1.1

Then... Sorry about that. We put the wrong readme on a small number of one of the 'replication runs'. Ignore it.

You know you have Version 1.2 if you have multiple sheep printed on the CD's white label.

IF... You get an LOADLIBRARY error message during installation, your Fluffimation Text to Speech won't play. (nothing gets spoken back when you press Play)

Warning: If you ignore this message the rest of the program will work, but you'll wonder why the Fluffimations don't work even though you thought you saw the speech application install. The problem is that it didn't REGISTER correctly. That's why we put a second speech install option on the CD. The following solution installs and registers the speech application properly on Windows 98 machines that were having the problem.

Then... "Explore" the files of the Fluffy CD using Windows Explorer (same thing as 'My Computer' basically). Now double click the XTRAS folder to open it, then double click the YAK folder, and double click the INSTALLERS folder (we buried it, sorry). Now... Right click install.bat and select "open" to execute the file. If the installer wants to install "Older files over Newer," let it install the older files. They are required to run Fluffy's Fluffimations.

Note: This same problem can occur in version 1.0. However, if you have this original version (because you never took advantage of our highly advertised and long retired replacement offer), you may find the Yak/installers" folder in a different folder on the CD. Look for it and run the install.bat file as above.

IF... you still can't get the text-to-speech Fluffimations to run (after properly trying and trying again)

Then...  it might be because your old cantankerous version of Windows 98 (or heaven forbid: 95) doesn't have the Microsoft Speech engine installed!  It came with the original Windows installation CD, but some bright folks 'uninstall' it to save space on the harddrive (or because they don't know what it is).  Fortunately, we have a copy of the Sapi 4.0 speech application online up here located at www.sundaysoftware.com/lets-talk/support   Click the following direct link to download Sapi 4.0 then unzip it to your Desktop, then install it.  (5mb download). You may also need a second component your techie ripped from your operating system. Download spchapi.zip here as a zip file. Double click it to unzip it to your Desktop, then double click spchapi.exe to install it. (800kb download - small)  YES, Fluffy is quite sophisticated. If this doesn't work, nothing else will.

IF....You have a Mac and are getting FONT error messages

Then...
Just keep clicking "continue" or "ignore." It's just an adjustment problem with the default font. This will be corrected sometime in 2006 as Fluffy is scheduled for an update.

IF... You get a Script Handling error in DJ FLUFFY JAM.

Then...  It is due to the fact that you are trying to move a word or sound DURING playback. Once you play the song, wait until it ends before trying to add/move words and sounds.

Things that are USER PROBLEMS, not technical ones!

= The Play button on the Fluffimations won't play. That's because you must fill in each one before it will start.

= "I'm stuck on the Road to Bethlehem looking at a billboard." Click the billboard!

= "Some of these answers in the Shepherd's Quiz are wrong."  Gotcha!  The angels don't appear to the shepherds in Matthew as the question asks. They do so in Luke!  And at first only ONE angel appeared to the shepherd, followed by a heavenly host.

REPORT A PROBLEM
Clicking this link will open up your email program. Please be EXTREMELY SPECIFIC about the nature of your problem. Where does it occur? When does it occur? What operating system do you have? How much RAM and Videoram do you have? What brand of soundchip/card and videochip/card do you have? What is the make and model of your computer? How many MHZ is the processor?

Version 1.0 Reported Problems:

You know you have 1.0 if there's only one sheep on the CD's white label.

IF...
Your
Fluffimation Text to Speech doesn't work in the Fluffimations (nothing gets spoken back when you press Play) and/or you got an error message during the installation of the program: failure to loadlibrary enu.syn -it means that your Windows text-to-speech application needs some help.

So.....
"Explore" the files of the Fluffy CD using Windows Explorer. Open the XTRAS folder and open the YAK folder, then INSTALLERS folder. Right click install.bat and select "open" to execute the file. If the installer wants to install "Older files over Newer," let it install the older files. They are required to run Fluffy's Fluffimations.

Note: This same problem can occur in version 1.2. Follow the same procedure as above. Click here for a helpful DIAGRAM

IF...
You get the following error message in version 1.0 when trying to print a Fluffimation: "
Exception in 10h module Flash Asset." 10h is Microsoft Window's printer error code.

THEN...
Your printer's driver is either out-of-date, corrupt, or not correctly matched to the printer. Find the printer manufacturer's website and get their latest printer drivers. Printer drivers and today's applications must be able to talk to each other. Only one customer has reported this and she switched her printer to a different printer and Fluffy printed fine.

IF...
At startup in version 1.0, if you get an error message about an
ORDINAL not matching.

THEN...
Ignore it. It's not an error that affects the program. It's a housekeeping detail that some versions of XP are reporting. (XP has many different release versions as they are constantly updating it.) The next release of Macromedia Director, the authoring tool used to create Fluffy, will correct this report.

Did you miss the UPDATE offer?

We ran messages in our Spring 2003 catalog and Summer 2003 Email Newsletters offering a FREE Fluffy Update. That offer ended September 1, 2003. If you missed it, hey, where were you? Fluffy 1.2 came out in 2004 and was MUCH MORE than just a bug fix. We added about 15% new content and enhanced lots of things, including the navigation and Fluffimations. Email us if you are stuck with 1.0 and want an upgrade. It will be inexpensive and worth it.
