Sunday Software's December 2007 Photo Contest

We hold a "Computers in CE" photo contest about every 10 months. We love your photos and know everyone else enjoys seeing them too. The contest isn't necessarily a "photography" contest but it helps if the photos are good quality. Mostly, we like to see something that helps tell the story of computers in CE. The top three winners in this season's contest each do that, and yet, are all quite different. Each of the three first place winners won $50 in free software from our catalog!

Here are the Top Three "First Place Winners"
in our December 2007 Photo Contest

Some good photos from the "runners-up" are here

The first of the top-three winners comes from Neshanic Reformed Church in Hillsborough, NJ. Their photos stood out for showing a unique space and the kind of intensity you see on kids faces when they are learning the Bible at a computer. Good work.

The above photos were sent in by Laura Sparrow Hood, Director of Christian Education at Neshanic Reformed Church in Hillsborough, New Jersey. They call their lab "Abraham's Tent." The cinderblock is covered with felt to soften it up and dampen the acoustics of a small room. Laura says the kids love the coziness and that the lab has been so well-received that they had to expand its open hours on Sunday.

This next "top three" winning photo comes from Turning Point UMC in Evansville Indiana. It shows the kids using Awesome Bible Stories CD during their summer VBS.

Neat photo of the boys, but we're also enjoying the young adult helpers in the background under the tent. Notice the boys are smiling for the camera, but in NO WAY are they taking their eyes off the screen. We love that about teaching with computers. ...the focus.

This next "top three" winning photo comes from First UMC in Enid Oklahoma. It's not a great photo, but we loved the spaceship theme. Some unique touches you don't see in other 'space' themed labs. And notice there are 3 teachers in this lab. Woohoo!

Those are corrugated steel panel "blast shields" on the wall. And the corner is one of the most creative classroom corners I've ever seen... decorated to look like the spaceship's window looking into outerspace with glow-in-the-dark stars. Even the carpet looks like it glows in the dark. Thanks to Lori Markes, Director of Christian Education at FUMC for allowing us to see their creative lab.

Photo note: we've cropped and improved some of the photos to make them look nicer under the heavy compression we have to use to make them all appear here on the web.
