More Photos from Sunday Software's 10th Anniversary Contest

Most of the following photo entries didn't win the big prizes, but were good entries, and they won their church a free CD from our catalog. Additional photos from the winning labs can be found below. We received A LOT of photo entries, and could not post them all.

"We have a remarkable group of volunteers who teach in our computer lab. They are enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile. Each week they are welcomed with smiling faces and wondering eyes as the children come in." -Deb Locke, Collier UMC

Sugar Land's computer lab is called "The Cave Connection."  The room's walls and ceiling are painted to look like the rock walls of a cave.

Wendy Sempf (right) has been teaching in her lab since the 90's. In this picture she mentions to "notice the student on the right more interested in the lesson than the camera." Wendy noted that reducing the size of their lab and the number of students attending at one time really improved the teaching situation.

This photo deserves special mention for the teachers seen seated at each station. Count them...1, 2, 3.  Wonderful!

There's this perception that computers are "boy thing" but you'll see plenty of girls smiling in labs too.  St. James' Church was a high finisher for that reason.

Another view of the Lawrenceburg Church's 2nd Place winning "Starship Ecclesia Bridge" and several older students working together. The collection of other electronics makes "The Bridge" design more fun.

Above: close up of three boys playing Bongo CD together in Lawrenceburg. The joystick, mouse and two keyboards are all connected by USB to a single computer which is projecting the screen over their heads. Cooperative Learning by technology!

St. Olaf's "Space Theme" filled their entire room. Planets hang from the ceiling. And a teen helps teach. Awesome.

Above is the doorway leading into the First Place Winner's "Mission Control" computer lab. In this photo you can just barely make out the "mini-light" stars they have in the ceiling above the entrance. Other photos they sent included a space-theme bulletin board and a switchbox that lit up.

This picture was one of our top finishers. Our judges liked the unusual paint colors, wooden benches and teacher right in there elbow-to-elbow.

Transfiguration wrote: "Four months in and WE LOVE OUR LAB.  More to the point, the kids do, and it’s amazing to see and hear how the content ‘sticks’.   And it’s the destination of choice before and after church to play and work together on previous content.

Our most recent rotation included parents and grandparents – at one point I think there were 10 people in our tiny little lab, all having a blast playing 'Eucharist Jeopardy.'”

You think your lab is too small? Above is a view of
The Fonthill Ontario lab which was started in their supply closet due to lack of secure space elsewhere. This is dedication!

Inset into this photo is a picture of the sign they have created for outside their Peace.com Cafe lab

This lab's projected software setup is also used with Adult classes.

Special Mention: Rosalyn Hannaford at the Enfield Church in Adelaide Australia sent us pictures of her lab being used to teach the children of Sudanese Refugees. She wrote, "Many of the young people have been in Refugee Camps, sometimes for many years in various places in Africa after the persecuted families have escaped from the Sudan.  In our experience they have been greatly helped in their Christianity by the Catholic Church in the camps, and the families are keen to keep the connection in a local church when they arrive here."

This photo shows sound dividers and seated teachers. Yay!
Sunday Software judges LOVE space between the computers in a lab.

The "BC to PC" computer lab in Eules TX.
Nice wall mural.

It's great to see the two seated teachers right in there at CrossPoint.

The teachers and young girls here are obviously loving their lesson.

The creative Tech Entry to the Bibleland.com Lab
at West St Olaf Lutheran in Hayfield MN.

The looks on the student's faces in this photo are something! The bright paint and CD decor is great.

Neil's Comment on the all the above photos:

My favorites are the ones showing the teacher sitting down and enjoying the software with the kids. Some labs submitted photos that mostly showed their equipment, lots of it, but those weren't really unique. A few entries showed the BACKS of kids wearing headphones at a row of computers and no teachers within 5 feet. Those didn't fair to well with our judges or with me. The spontaneous photos seem to be the ones we liked. They captured a certain "teaching moment" in the lab. Keep up the good work.
