Windows XP & Vista Compatibility Adjustments

XP and Vista have a built-in adjustment you can make for an individual program that seems to be having trouble running on your Windows computer. Sometimes it solves problems. Making this change ONLY affects the program you are changing the settings for. It doesn't affect anything else on your computer. Make sure you are in the Main Admin User Log In to make this change.

1. Find the STARTUP ICON for the offending program on your Desktop or in your PROGRAMS listing (when you click Start). (You can also right click the executable application file. Same thing.)

2. RIGHT CLICK that startup icon and select PROPERTIES.

3. Select the "COMPATIBILITY" tab.

4. Check the box titled "Run as Windows 98 program" then click OK. It doesn't mean the program can't run in XP. It doesn't turn your computer into a 98 machine. It's just swapping a few files in when the startup icon is used the next time so as to tell XP to be more gentle with it.

Now try your program.
