Tips & Navigational Notes for Christian ClickArt CDs
provided by Sunday Software to our customers as a courtesy

We carry two different Christian clipart programs which have VERY similar names, but completely different sets of clipart.  Christian Click Art Deluxe is a 2 CD set with over 13,000 Christian clip art images suitable for use in bulletins and newsletters. Christian Clickart CD is one CD full of 1200 newer images, with a more colorful style.

This page's tips apply to both, and most clipart CDs.

You work pretty much the same way with any clipart CD to bring an image from the CD into a document.

Here's how to do that.

  1. Put your CD  in the CD drive.

  2. Open your Word Processor and go to a new document.

  3. Select INSERT from the menu and then select PICTURE (or it might be called "image" in some versions).  An "open file" dialog box will open on the screen.

  4. Navigate in the dialog box to your CD drive where the clickart images are located.

  5. Select an image, and click "ok" or "insert" on the file dialog box.

  6. You should now see the image in your document.

  7. Word has a number of image controls that allow you to move the image, resize it, crop it and make other changes. Get familiar with them or have someone show you how.

If this is all new to you, ask someone to walk you through it. It's not hard if you have someone there helping you.

BIG TIP:
Depending on how your "folder view" options are set, you may see a preview of the images, or thumbnails (icons) of the image, or simply the filenames.

Most of the time you will want to CHANGE your FOLDER VIEW OPTION in Word (or whatever program you are using to insert the graphics) so that you can SEE the thumbnail images of the CD, rather than just see their filenames.

To see the thumbnail images of each clipart file, you will need to set your FOLDER VIEW OPTIONS TO "THUMBNAIL" or "ICON" (instead of "list" or "detail"). In the upper right corner of your Open File Dialog box (or any folder), there's a folder view icon you can click to open and select viewing options.

Here's a helpful graphic showing a document open in Word, and the steps involved in inserting the graphic and changing the Folder View option. Your options make look slightly different depending on which version of Word you are using, what operating system you have.

MORE TIPS on WORKING WITH THE CDS AND IMAGES

You do not "install" the clipart. Rather, you browse it from within your Wordprocessor, ...using your Wordprocessors "insert" command.

For easy retrieval of frequently used images, YOU CAN COPY the images from the CDs into a "favorites folder" of your own making, so that you don't have to handle the CDs.  As you browse the CDs, you will likely see other images you think you can use someday. Copy those into your folder as well. You can simply CLICK & DRAG any image on the CD into a Favorites Folder on your desktop.

Tech Note: In the older 2 CD collection known as Christian Clickart Deluxe, the first time you put CD1 into your CD drive, it will try to install a utility program. This utility is unneeded and will not run in XP/Vista/W7. Cancel out and it won't bother you again.
