Elijah and Jonah CD
from Sunday Software is interactive Bible story and games software
designed for kids and young teens.
See the full description here.
E&J CD has been updated TWICE since its first release. Check the CD's label to see which version you have.
-
Version 1.1 came out with some technical
tweaks and typo corrections.
Version 1.1 also added a game
"jump to" menu under the
Main Menu's "Options" button. This game menu let's users jump straight to
all the games (in version 1.0 you had to look for each game within
each story)
-
Version 1.2
(released January 2011) is purely a
technical update that makes your installed copy of E&J run in
Vista, Windows 7, and OS 10.4+. It also updates v1.0 to
v1.2. If you have XP, you do not need the version 1.2 update. Version
1.1 runs fine in XP. The Version 1.2 Update is FREE.
It will update BOTH versions 1.0 and versions 1.1 to version 1.2 (if you have
installed them on your computer).
If you have E&J running on XP, you don't need the 1.2 upgrade.

Important v1.2 Update Download Notes:
Version 1.2 makes E&J work on Vista, Windows 7, and newer
versions of OS X (macintel).
Please follow our download instructions carefully.
If you are
unfamiliar with downloading and 'unzipping' files, please ask
someone to help you. Once downloaded, these
files can be brought to the computer where your E&J CD is installed,
and added to the E&J program folder to achieve the update.
Quick
Explanation of the Download:
The download file is a
"zip" file. Inside that zip file is the setup1.2.exe file which
must be executed to do the upgrade. You'll download the zip file
then double click it to 'extract/unzip' the setup.exe into a
folder of your choosing. Once you have done that, double click the
setup.exe file to finish the upgrade's installation.
For step by step help, see below.
This
Update File is a 107-ish mb
file.
It will take some time to download, after which you can run it
on your computer or copy to CD or USB flash drive, and install
on a computer where the previous version of E&J CD was installed.

v1.2
"Upgrade" Installation Instructions for Windows:
1.
Download the free v1.2 upgrade to
your computer. (filename: EJ_v1.2setup.zip)
Save it somewhere convenient, like on your desktop.
2.
Double click the downloaded "EJ_v1.2setup.zip" file
and "extract all files" (aka 'unzip')
into a new folder.
Take note of where that new folder is. During the
unzip process, you could create a folder if you
wanted to.
This will unzip and reveal a file named "setup_EJ_v1.2.exe".
This is the installer file for your upgrade.
3.
Copy the setup.v1.2.exe file to a CD or a USB flash drive
and
transport it to the computer where you have version 1.0 or 1.1
previously installed.
OR, if you're already
at that computer where you want to perform the upgrade,
simply double-click the setup_EJ_v1.2.exe file to start
the installation.
3. Prior to installing the upgrade,
drag all the OLD
E&J icons found on your Desktop into your Recycle Bin.
If you don't, and try to start v1.2 with the
previous version's desktop icon, you will get a
"library not registered" error.
Now you're ready to execute the SETUP file you
downloaded.
4.
To Install the upgrade....
Navigate to the setup_EJ_v1.2.exe file you have
downloaded and unzipped
DOUBLE CLICK the setup_EJ_v1.2.exe file.
This will start the upgrade process on your
computer.
After installation, you can delete your previous
version's installed folder from your harddrive.
5.
After running the installation, double click your E&J
version 1.2 desktop icon
The program should start up!
Enjoy... and thank God for great software and
great customers!
TIP:
After installing version 1.2,
...go into
your C:\programs file on your computer (or
wherever you had your original E&J 1.0/1.1 installed)
and DELETE any folder of Elijah and Jonah which does
have "1.2" in its name. This will
avoid any possible "version confusion" in the future.
FLASH NOTE:
Be sure to have an updated version of Adobe Flash Player
installed on your computer. E&J is a flash beast!
www.adobe.com/flashplayer.

following two items to the same location on your
hard drive (into the Applications or Documents folder,
for example) where you already have Elijah-Jonah
1.0 or 1.1 installed:
(item 1) Elijah_and_Jonah
(red/white icon)
(item 2) the folder named
"SOURCE."
3. That's it! To start the program,

More
E&J Tech notes...
For all versions, make sure your computer has the latest copy of
Adobe Flash Player. It's free from
www.adobe.com/flashplayer
If you are experiencing problems and haven't downloaded the update,
please do so now and see if they cure the problem.
Version 1.2 Tech Notes
If you downloaded the free update, and are
getting a
"library
not registered"
message in Windows, it is most likely because you are trying to use
the old E&J shortcut to start version 1.2. Delete all the old
shortcuts and create a shortcut only to the new version 1.2
application. See our update install notes above.
Version
1.0 Tech Notes
If you get a
"Member not found" error msg, or some menu
buttons don't work (or you get an error message of any sort) you need to
install a free updated version of Flash Player to your system.
You should also download the free v1.2 update.
If you get a missing export
OLEAUT32.DLL file, it means you are using an old UN-updated
version of Windows 98. Go to Microsoft.com and download the
DCOM for Windows 98 v1.3 files (search
their download site).
If you get a "MDM Zinc V2 Error" msg
it means you have Windows 98 and need to
download DirectX 8.1 for Windows
98/Me to update your system.
Mac OS X Installation Notes
for version 1.0 and 1.1
when installing from CD
You
must drag both
the HQX (aka zip file) and Source folders into a folder on your desktop
to start the program. If you drag only the HQX file over, the menus
won't work. In one release of the CD, the readme file erroneously
calls it a 'zip' file and only mentions the HQX file. Create a
folder and drag both files into it.
Be careful naming your folder. Call it ElijahJonah. Do not use
illegal folder characters such as "Elijah & Jonah".
If you have a
Mac with an INTEL processor
and cannot get E&J v 1.1 to work,
download the replacement hqx
file. Unzip it into a folder and double click the hqx file to
install.
To install
E & J CD v1.1 on OS X with a Mac chip, you must drag the hqx file
(which OSX will show you is on the CD) to your desktop or any
appropriate folder, then unzip it there. If you try to unzip it
before you drag it to a folder, it will tell you it can't "unarchive".
E & J CD
will not work on Mac
OS 9.
Version 1.1 will not work in 10.4 or higher. You need the version
1.2 update for that!
Vista Notes for Versions 1.0 and 1.1
First... make sure you have Vista Service Pack 1
installed on your Vista computer. Vista is being regularly
updated to fix incompatibility issues.
Second... make sure you have the latest Vista compatible
versions of Flash and Shockwave installed.
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ These free plug-ins help
many programs, such as Elijah-Jonah, run in Vista, and they too
are constantly being updated to solve compatibility issues.
One Vista problem we've seen... Immediately after installing, the game
will run after
you click "finish" on the installation panel. But... the game
will not start from the Desktop icon in either version 1.0 or
1.1 in Vista unless you make the following TWEAK:
After installation.... RIGHT CLICK the E&J Desktop icon and
select "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR". That
should allow the program to
run in Vista if you are not in a limited user log in.
"Access Denied" Error Message...
The Version 1.2 Update cures this problem in Vista and Windows 7.
